04/03/08 – Notching the tunnel

I had some issues with the bodywork that slowed me up a lot.  That, coupled with a trip to Houston for work and moving AGAIN put a damper on the last 2 weeks.  However, the Body situation is straightened out and I am once again moving forward.

I was concerned that the passenger seat was not going to clear the transmission, requiring it’s removal.  I knew that the tunnel needed to be notched, for the seat, but was wary about the seat clearance.

The first thing I did was pick up the transmission from Innovative Tuning.  Thanks to Justin and Mike for helping me carry it to my truck!

Then I installed it1 in the car.  Sorry about the cell pics.

Next I put the passenger seat back in.  It FITS!  WASSAA!

Lastly I started planning how I am going to notch it for the seat.  I need to put a tray/bolting flange under the seat, welded to the body, then modify the tunnel so it clears the seat/bolts in.

Here is the start of that:

That’s all for now!
